FAQ
-
What colour do you breed?
We currently specialize in breeding silvers for both British and Scottish cats. We adore the look of silver cats (they remind us of polar bears) :)
-
Do we photoshop our cats?
The only photo editing that we adjust is the lighting of the pictures for our kings, queens, and kittens. We do not edit out any physical features that would mislead you when selecting kittens from the litter (e.g. eye colour, ears, facial features, etc).
-
Do you keep a waiting list?
No, we currently do not operate a waiting list and do not take advanced deposits. If you are interested in adopting, please stay tuned on our social media platforms as well as the “Ready to Adopt” page.
-
Do you provide a contract?
Yes, we provide a detailed contract outlining all the information that you need to adopt a kitten from us. The contract must be agreed upon and signed by both parties. A contract will be initiated when the deposit is received.
-
Delivery
We offer free delivery services right to your home if you reside in the following cities: Vancouver, Richmond, Burnaby, and Delta.
We charge extra fees for the following:
Delivery to other cities in the Greater Vancouver Area (such as Langley and Surrey)
USA-Canada border (between B.C. and Washington State)
Courier cost to areas not outlined above
Please note that we are more inclined in meeting up locally in Vancouver. Please ensure that you indicate you are able to pick up in Vancouver if that is the case.
-
Can I visit the cattery?
All of our cats live with us in our homes, so we do not allow visiting for privacy and security reasons. We are more than happy to send you pictures / videos of the cats and kittens. We also post regularly on Instagram and WeChat Moments, so no special moments will be missed :)
-
How to get ready for my new friend?
Once you’ve signed the contract, you will have access to our exclusive “Welcome Home Handbook” page outlining everything you need to know about getting ready for your new kitten to come home and information on how to take care of a cat in general. We will also provide a care package that will smooth out the transition period for you and the little one.
-
What if I am allergic to cats?
Before adopting a kitten, please ensure that everybody in your household is not allergic to cats. If you are unsure, please visit your doctor’s office to get yourself (and anyone who will reside with the cat) allergy tested. Please note that Dearfold does not rehome kittens to those who are allergic to cats.
-
Our thoughts on declawing?
Dearfold is against declawing! We DO NOT declaw our cats nor do we allow cats that leave Dearfold to be declawed.
-
Our thoughts on spaying/neutering?
All Dearfold cats/kittens, if not for breeding purposes, will have to be spayed/neutered. There are many good reasons to sterilize a cat if they do not serve the purpose of breeding. For more information, please visit here.
Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions or would like to learn more about our cattery! :)
